ABOUT - MY VISION
Hi – this is Paul! I’m a 19-year-old shark conservationist, whose mission it is to stop the extinction of sharks from our oceans! Sharks are undoubtedly one of the most important sea creatures to secure the heath of the biggest ecosystem on earth – the ocean!!
That’s why I founded my initiative Paul4Sharks at the age of 16 in 2021! I began with educational work on my Instagram channel, informing people about the magnificent creatures sharks are and that more people die to coconuts than to shark bites every year!
As I kept up posting shark information, I wanted to build up a network and get to know the community – luckily, I ran into StopFinningEU, a European Citizen’s Initiative to end the shark fin trade in Europe. I work with StopFinningEU now for 3 years in the core team – accompanying the successful collection of 1.119.996 votes to end the European shark fin trade, submitting the initiative to the European Commission in Jan. 2022 and presenting our demand to the European Parliament in Mar. 2022, both in Brussels, as well as all the work continuing in the background.
Over time, I got to know many great people fighting for our oceans and expanded my network and portfolio of activities, built up partnerships and continue to post educational content on my social media channels!
Paul4Sharks’ vision is the global achievement of the UN 30x30-goal through the creation of new marine protection areas as well as their active management - ensuring our shark populations’, oceans’ and planets’ health and stability!
